The Caledonia Fire Department in partnership with the Barry County United Way participates in a free smoke alarm program made possible by grants from the Pennock Foundation and Hastings Kiwanis.
This program is designed to assist families that are in need of smoke alarms in their homes.
If you are in need and would like participate in this program, simply click on the link below and fill out the top box of the application form. Once you have completed the form you can either, mail it, e-mail it, fax or drop it off at the Caledonia Fire Station.
Once we have received your application you will be contacted by a fire department representative to schedule an appointment for the installation of the alarms by on duty firefighters.
To ensure the effectiveness of this program we cannot simply ‘hand out’ free smoke alarms. The on duty firefighters assigned to install your alarms with first provide an evaluation of your current smoke alarms, including the replacement of batteries for current alarms, replace expired alarms and install additional smoke alarms as deemed necessary according to the NFPA standard.
