Caledonia Fire is currently accepting applications for Paid-on-Call and Part-Time firefighters.
Paid-on-Call Firefighters must live or work within the proximity of the station, but do not need any prior fire or Emergency Medical System (EMS) training. The fire department will put you through all training necessary to become a firefighter at no cost to the individual such as:
Firefighter I and II course consists of a minimum of 242 hours that will last approximately 8 to 9 months.
Basic Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course consists of 194 hours that will last approximately 6 months.
Paid-on-Call firefighters are expected to respond to a minimum percentage of paid-on-call response incidents. When minimum proficiencies are met, paid-on-call members are eligible to sign up to work scheduled shifts.
Part-Time Firefighters must have their Firefighter I and II certificate, minimum of Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) license (EMT preferred), and currently active with another fire department. When minimum proficiencies are met, part-time firefighters are eligible to sign up to work scheduled shifts and are expected to work a minimum of 8 hours per month.
